1. Introduction

The Global Logistics Convention is an annual freight logistics event of the Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Associations (FEAFFA). The Convention has been held successfully in the last two years, first in Tanzania in the year 2017 and last year in Kampala, Uganda. The summit is hosted by FEAFFA members in the respective East African Partner States., This year, the summit will be held in Kigali - Rwanda and is therefore being organized by Rwanda Freight Forwarders Association (RWAFFA) and Rwanda Transporters Association, in collaboration with various Rwanda Government agencies and Private Sector Federation (PSF).

The Convention offers a unique opportunity for professionals in transport and freight logistics sector from all over the world to share best practice, engage with transport and logistics policy makers, interact with a wide range of stakeholders as well as learn emerging trends and developments in the sector. The Convention usually attracts participants from all parts of the world and is steadily establishing itself in the global calendar of the freight logistics sector.

The Convention is an opportunity for freight logistics professionals in the EAC region to interact with their counterparts from advanced economies and begin positioning themselves for future challenges and opportunities in the sector as the regional economy continues to grow.

2. Theme: “LOGISTICS;THE ENGINE OF ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT”

3. Objectives: Key Objectives for the Convention include:

  1. Sharing global, regional best practices and opportunities in logistics services
  2. Enhance capacity building and promoting self-regulation in the logistics industry within the region.
  3. Sharing global practices in logistics training and professionalism
  4. Providing a platform for Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Government (B2G) partnership
  5. Exposing local firms to international logistics.
  6. Showcasing the opportunities in logistics technologies and discussing the importance of e-commerce in logistics services
  7. Marketing the region and Rwanda specifically as destination for logistics investment hub.
  8. Identifying and sharing challenges in the logistics industry across the region and global.
  9. Championing public private sector partnership

4. Key Activities: The two days event is expected to include the following activities.

  • The logistics Convention with panel discussions, very enriching plenary and break-away sessions
  • The Logistics Exhibition
  • Cocktails, Gala dinner and Tours in the land of 1000 hills.

5. Target participants:

Approximately between 500 and 700 delegates are expected to participate in the convention that will include freight logistics industry experts, world class faculties in logistics and supply chain management, public sector officials, development partners, international and regional private sector industry players, shipping lines/agents, Transport companies, various logistics service providers, manufacturers and dealers in transport and logistics equipment, warehouse operators, providers of Information Technology solutions for logistics, companies providing related services (customs, insurance, finance, management and consulting), Port Authorities, corridors coordination authorities, representatives of regional economic blocs among others.

6. Dates and venue:29th-30thAugust 2019,at Kigali Convention Centre.


7. Resource mobilization to cover Convention costs.

As the host, RWAFFA is responsible for the logistical arrangements and mobilization of resources with the support of the Federation. All FEAFFA member national associations will be expected to mobilize paying participants from their membership and other stakeholders in their respective countries.
